WITSON HV5308 is an 8 inch OEM style Android 15 car stereo built for the Volkswagen, Skoda and Seat dashboard family of 2006-2012: VW Passat B6, Passat B7, Golf 5, Golf 6, Tiguan, Touran, Jetta, Sagitar, Caddy, CC and Polo, plus Skoda Octavia MK2 and Seat Leon MK2. It keeps the factory dashboard, the factory steering wheel buttons and the factory connectors - the CANBUS decoder is inside the box, not a paid extra.

The same hardware and software platform is used across the WITSON HV, HV5 and HV7 families, so the firmware, the 17 UI themes and the wiring logic are identical from the 8 inch HV5308 up to the 9 inch and 10.1 inch versions. What changes is only the dashboard panel and the screen size.

3.3 DSP 32EQ - tune the cabin, not the file

The HV5308 has a 32 band digital signal processor built into the main board: EQ, field, surround, stereo enhancement, bass enhancement and sound filter pages, plus per channel gain and delay. On a 2006-2012 Passat B6 with the original speakers this is the difference between "loud" and "clean".

3.4 4G, WiFi, FM / AM RDS radio and DAB+ ready

A 4G SIM slot sits on the back of the HV5308, so a 2006-2012 Touran or Caddy can run online maps, streaming and email without a phone. WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz both work, the unit can share its 4G as a hotspot, and the FM / AM tuner keeps RDS station names. A DAB+ tuner is optional for European customers who want digital radio.

3.5 USB, SD card and 1080P video

Two USB extensions and the SD slot on the HV5308 read music, movies and pictures up to 32 GB, and the player handles 1080P video on the 1024 x 600 panel. The USB cables are long enough to reach the glovebox of a 2006-2012 Passat B7 or the console of a Golf 6.

9. FAQ - HV5308 fitment, CarPlay and ordering questions

1. Will this WITSON HV5308 fit my 2009 Volkswagen Passat B6?

Yes. The HV5308 uses the 8 inch OEM style panel built for the VW Passat B6 2006-2012 dashboard, so it replaces the factory radio without cutting the dash. The CANBUS box in the box keeps the steering wheel buttons and the door open display. If your car is a 2005 or an early 2006 model with the older single DIN cage, send us a photo of the dashboard and we will confirm before you pay.

2. Does the HV5308 fit the Golf 5 and the Golf 6 of 2006-2012?

The HV5308 covers both. Golf 5 (2003-2009) and Golf 6 (2008-2012) share the same harness family, the difference is only the dashboard surround, which is included in the bracket set. For the Golf 6 with the white MFD instrument cluster the CANBUS decoder is the same unit, no extra coding needed.

3. Is the 8 inch screen the right size for a 2011 Tiguan or a 2010 Touran?

For the Tiguan 2008-2012 and the Touran 2006-2012 the 8 inch OEM style panel is the standard upgrade size, it sits flush in the factory double DIN opening. If you prefer a wider look, the same platform is available as a 9 inch (HV5324) and a 10.1 inch floating screen for these dashboards.

4. Do I lose the factory steering wheel buttons on a 2007 Jetta or Sagitar?

No. The package includes a CANBUS decoder for the 2006-2012 VW platform, so volume, track, phone and voice keys on the 2007 Jetta or Sagitar steering wheel keep working after installation. You can also remap the keys inside the Android settings.

5. Does the HV5308 work with the factory amplifier and speakers of the Passat B7?

Yes. The harness has line out plus the factory amplifier wake up signal, and the built in DSP 32EQ lets you keep the original speakers and still tune time alignment and 32 bands of EQ. For the Passat B7 with the Dynaudio system we ship the amplified harness version, tell us the VIN or the radio photo when you order.

The HV5308 runs Android 15 on a UIS8581A octa core with 4 GB RAM + 64 GB ROM. If you need more storage for offline maps and music, order the HE5308 with 8 GB + 128 GB on the same dashboard. Both versions use the same 8 inch housing, so the installation is identical.

7. Can the HV5308 show wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on a 2008 Golf 5?

Yes, both are wireless. For a 2008 Golf 5 the phone connects over WiFi and Bluetooth automatically after the first pairing, no cable needed. Wired Android Auto is also available through the USB extension cable if you prefer charging while navigating.
